All 49 Feared Dead in Tragic Russia Plane Crash. Search Concludes with No Survivors at Remote Crash Site
July 24, 2025: Russia Plane Crash – Authorities conducting search operations at the site of a passenger plane crash in Russia’s far east have reported no signs of survivors. The An-24 aircraft, operated by Angara airline, went down on Thursday with approximately 49 people onboard, including five children and six crew members. All are now feared dead.
The plane, en route from Blagoveshchensk to Tynda in the Amur region near the Chinese border, lost contact with air traffic control shortly before its scheduled landing. Regional Governor Vasily Orlov confirmed the tragic outcome, stating that “all of them were killed in the crash.”
Aerial inspections by a Mi-8 helicopter crew flying over the crash area reported no signs of life, with the regional civil defense and fire safety center informing TASS that the plane caught fire upon impact. Unverified video footage circulating online, reportedly from a helicopter, shows the burning wreckage in a densely forested, mountainous area, about 15-16 kilometers from Tynda airport.
Preliminary investigations suggest crew error during a second landing attempt amid poor visibility as a possible cause for the crash. The An-24, a Soviet-era twin-turboprop aircraft, was reportedly nearly 50 years old. Rescue efforts at the remote, difficult terrain are ongoing.
