May 8, 2025: Tensions in South Asia have begun to spill into the world of sports, with two English cricketers—Chris Jordan and David Willey—expressing their desire to leave the Pakistan Super League (PSL) following India’s military strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
India launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 7 as a measured response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, including one Nepali national. The airstrikes targeted nine high-value terrorist camps, sparking security concerns across the region.

According to a report by telecomasia.net, Jordan and Willey, currently part of the Multan Sultans franchise, have communicated their intent to return home, especially since the team has been eliminated from the playoff race and only has one fixture remaining.
UK Players On Alert
There are seven England players involved in PSL 2025: Sam Billings, James Vince, Tom Curran, David Willey, Chris Jordan, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, and Luke Wood.

While the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) have not issued formal instructions to withdraw players, sources say the players are in close contact with their representatives. Any advisory from the UK government could prompt a formal recall.
Despite the growing regional tension, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has insisted that the remainder of the PSL season will continue as scheduled, asserting confidence in their security arrangements.
India’s missile and drone operations were deliberately restricted to terrorist infrastructure belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), both internationally proscribed groups. The Indian government emphasized that no Pakistani military or civilian targets were engaged, underlining its strategic intent to avoid escalation.
