Trump Repeats Claim of Halting India-Pakistan Conflict

US President again credits Washington with averting war, India denies third-party role

February 6, 2026: US President Donald Trump on Thursday once again claimed that he had stopped a war between India and Pakistan last year, repeating the assertion twice in a single day. Speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast, Trump said he had ended multiple global conflicts, including those involving Pakistan and India, Israel and Iran, and Armenia and Azerbaijan. Later, in a post on Truth Social, he went further, claiming that his intervention prevented a nuclear war from breaking out between New Delhi and Islamabad.

In his social media post, Trump highlighted the strength of the US military, crediting his leadership for rebuilding America’s armed forces and expanding its nuclear capabilities. “I have stopped Nuclear Wars from breaking out across the World between Pakistan and India, Iran and Israel, and Russia and Ukraine,” he wrote, reiterating a claim he has made repeatedly since last year.

Trump has made the India-Pakistan claim more than 90 times across speeches and online platforms since May 10 last year, when he announced that the two neighbours had agreed to a “full and immediate” ceasefire after talks allegedly mediated by Washington. India, however, has consistently rejected any suggestion of third-party mediation, maintaining that issues with Pakistan are resolved bilaterally without external involvement.
