Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s trip to focus on strengthening strategic partnership

January 18, 2026: At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will pay an official visit to India on January 19, 2026. This will be his third official visit since becoming President of the United Arab Emirates and his fifth visit to India in the last ten years. The visit comes after a series of high-level exchanges, including trips by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in September 2024 and Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in April 2025.

India and the UAE share deep-rooted political, cultural and economic ties, with both countries emerging as major trading and investment partners. Their relationship has been further strengthened through mechanisms such as the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the Local Currency Settlement system and a Bilateral Investment Treaty. Energy cooperation also remains a key pillar, supported by long-term supply arrangements.

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi and Sheikh Mohamed are expected to review progress under the India–UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and explore new areas of cooperation. The leaders are also likely to exchange views on regional and global developments of mutual interest, reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties.
