Trump warns of possible American casualties as regional tensions spike

February 28, 2026: President Donald Trump has warned that American troops could face casualties as U.S. military operations linked to Iran continue to unfold. In a video shared on Truth Social, Trump said his administration had taken significant steps to minimise risks to personnel stationed across the region. However, he cautioned that the threat from Tehran remains serious. “The Iranian regime seeks to kill,” he said, adding that while every precaution is being taken, the dangers of war cannot be eliminated.

Trump acknowledged that the loss of American lives, though tragic, is a possible consequence of armed conflict. “The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost, and we may have casualties — that often happens in war,” he stated, describing the operations as a long-term mission aimed at securing future stability. His remarks come amid rising tensions and uncertainty in West Asia, with security concerns mounting rapidly.

Explosions were reported in Doha, the capital of Qatar, though the cause was not immediately confirmed. Iran’s foreign minister reportedly said Tehran would target all U.S. military bases in the region, according to Iraq’s foreign ministry. Meanwhile, Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency claimed that several American bases in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain were under attack, further intensifying fears of a wider regional conflict.
