A missile fired by Yemen’s Houthi rebels struck just 75 meters from Terminal 3 of Israel’s busiest international airport, Ben Gurion Airport, on Sunday, leaving behind a 25-metre-deep crater and injuring at least eight people, according to Israeli emergency services.

The ballistic missile bypassed four layers of Israel’s air defence system, including the Iron Dome, and exploded in an orchard next to a key airport access road. While critical infrastructure was spared, the attack triggered panic among hundreds of passengers inside the terminal.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) shared a video showing police and military personnel examining the massive crater with the airport’s control tower looming in the background. Yair Hezroni, Israel’s Central District Police Chief, described the impact zone as “several dozen metres wide and deep.”

🚨 Security Breach and Full-Scale Probe
A full investigation has been launched into how the missile managed to evade interception and hit one of Israel’s most sensitive zones. Ben Gurion Airport is a high-security facility protected by multi-layered air defence systems, notably Iron Dome, which is typically effective against short- and medium-range projectiles.

💬 IDF Response and Political Reactions
Following the strike, Defence Minister Israel Katz declared:
“Whoever harms us, we will strike them sevenfold.”
Despite this aggressive rhetoric, Israel has not yet responded militarily against Yemen, leaving that responsibility largely to the US-led coalition targeting the Iran-backed Houthis.
🎯 Houthi Statement and Global Warning
Senior Houthi official Mohammed al-Bukhaiti told Al-Araby TV that the group has “no red lines” in its campaign against Israel and is capable of striking more high-value Israeli targets.
Houthi media head Nasser al-Din Omar went further, warning international airlines to avoid Israeli airspace, claiming that further attacks could endanger civilian aircraft.
