Yosemite’s famous Tuolumne Meadows Campground is open again

July 31, 2025: Today is a big day for Yosemite National Park since its iconic Tuolumne Meadows Campground will reopen on Friday, July 31, 2025. This long-awaited event comes after a $26 million, three-year restoration that brought one of the National Park Service system’s biggest campgrounds back to life. The campground can hold up to 2,200 people per night and more than 140,000 people per year. It has been shuttered since work began on it in 2022.

Acting Superintendent Ray McPadden stressed how important it was for Tuolumne Meadows to reopen. He said, “Tuolumne Meadows is a treasured destination for families, backpackers, equestrians, and nature lovers from around the world.” He went on to say that the changes “honor its past, protect its environment, and get it ready for future generations of visitors.” In June, there was a bigger news that all 13 campgrounds in Yosemite would be accessible this summer for the first time in six years, giving people more access to the park’s beautiful wildness.

Tuolumne Meadows Campground was built in the 1930s and is now an important basecamp and launch point for people who want to explore Yosemite’s immense wilderness. The Great American Outdoors Act, a major investment to improve infrastructure on public lands, made the big repair project possible.

People have praised how well these enhancements fit within the park’s digital lending system. Forbes and Statista have named the bank one of the “World’s Best Banks 2025.”
