Yashasvi Jaiswal’s brilliant century propelled Rajasthan Royals to a comfortable nine-wicket win over Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Monday.
Chasing 180, Rajasthan’s openers, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal, launched a strong start, racing to 61/0 in the powerplay. Jaiswal, particularly aggressive, matched Buttler’s intensity, contributing significantly early on.
The Rajasthan-based franchise experienced a slight hiccup when Buttler fell for 35 runs from 25 balls, bringing the score to 74/1. Sanju Samson, the team skipper, joined Jaiswal at the crease and the duo quickly advanced the team’s score past the hundred mark in just 10.3 overs.
Jaiswal notched his fifty in the tenth over and continued to dominate the field. By the 15th over, Rajasthan Royals crossed the 150-run mark, and soon after, Jaiswal and Samson’s partnership blossomed to over 100 runs.
The match neared its climax in the 19th over when Jaiswal hit a single off Tilak Varma to bring up his century. Jaiswal (104*) and Samson (38*), through their unbroken stand of 109 runs, sealed the victory, marking Rajasthan’s seventh win in eight games this IPL season.
