Netflix has unveiled the cast for its highly anticipated series The Royals, bringing together a powerhouse ensemble that includes veteran star Zeenat Aman, Bhumi Pednekar, Ishaan Khatter, Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi, Milind Soman, and Dino Morea. The announcement was made on August 14, accompanied by a teaser video posted on Netflix’s official Instagram handle, giving fans a first glimpse of the star-studded lineup.
Directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana, The Royals is an eight-episode modern-day Indian royalty rom-com series that promises to immerse viewers in the glittering and romantic world of royal life. The chemistry between Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter is set to be the focal point of this contemporary narrative, blending old-world charm with the ambitions and challenges of today’s Gen Z.
The show is produced by Pritish Nandy and created by Rangita and Ishita Pritish Nandy, who shared their excitement about the project: “The Royals being our very first with Netflix had to be just the right blend of coming-of-age India, Gen Z storytelling, and feisty fun! There is the inevitable romance of old royalty; monarchs without crowns, and the incredible drive of today’s startup warriors for whom crowns hold zero shine. Sparks and insults will fly when these two worlds clash, and that has been great fun for us to create and produce!”
Aside from Pednekar and Khatter, the series boasts an impressive lineup of supporting talent. Zeenat Aman is set to make a special appearance, while Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi, Dino Morea, Milind Soman, Chunky Panday, Vihaan Samat, Kavya Trehan, Sumukhi Suresh, Udit Arora, Lisa Mishra, and Luke Kenny complete the ensemble.
With its unique blend of romance, drama, and the allure of royalty, The Royals is poised to become a must-watch series, offering viewers a dazzling escape into a world where tradition meets modernity, and love battles with legacy.
