The first-ever Golden Globe for best movie and best box office performance went to “Barbie.” Variety reports that the Warner Bros, movie, which was already the biggest hit in both the U.S. and around the world in 2023, now has a prize to show how popular it is in theaters. Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell also won a Golden Globe for their role in the movie Barbie in the song “What Was I Made For.”

The 81st Golden Globes are being held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. “Thank you to all the Barbies and Kens in front of and behind the camera.” “It was the best, happiest display of skill and dedication I’ve ever seen,” Gerwig said as she accepted the award with the movie’s creators and stars, Mariah Carey, America Ferrera, and Ryan Gosling. Then Gerwig thanked her partner and co-writer on “Barbie,” Noah Baumbach, “for showing his inner Barbie girl.” At the same time, Robbie thanked Gosling “for going full-beach.”

“Barbie,” which has made $636 million in North America and $1.4 billion around the world, earned Warner Bros. another Golden Globe win. It is the studio’s highest-grossing movie to date and the eleventh highest-grossing movie of all time in the United States. The hot pink comedy directed by Greta Gerwig beat out seven other nominees, such as “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” “John Wick: Chapter 4,” “Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning Part One,” “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” and “Oppenheimer,” the movie that made people laugh and became a meme.

Variety reported that “Barbie” had the most nominations going into the night, with a whopping 10 across all categories. These included 10 for best musical or comedy feature film, 10 for best actress (Margot Robbie), 10 for best director, 10 for best screenplay, and 3 for best original song.
