Ankur Warikoo Shuts Down Rs 100 Crore Courses Business After 5 Years, Says AI Impact Was “Huge”

New Delhi: Entrepreneur, author and content creator Ankur Warikoo has announced that he is shutting down his online courses business, despite generating more than Rs 100 crore in revenue and around Rs 25 crore in profits over the last five years.

The announcement surprised many of his followers after Warikoo shared a video on social media platform X revealing the decision.

“I’m closing my course business. Five years later, with five lakh pupils and Rs 100 crore in revenue, everything was profitable. I’m shutting it down completely,” he said in the video.

He also wrote alongside the clip: “I am shutting down my 100 crores courses business.”

Warikoo said he would share detailed reasons behind the move in a follow-up video scheduled for May 16 at 8:30 pm.

AI Speculation Around Shutdown Gains Attention

Soon after the announcement, social media users began speculating about the possible reasons behind the closure, with many pointing towards the growing influence of artificial intelligence in the online learning industry.

One user directly asked whether AI had played a role in the decision. Responding to the comment, Warikoo replied with a single word: “Huge.”

The response quickly fuelled discussions online about how AI tools are disrupting the creator economy, online education businesses, and traditional course-selling models.

Another social media user commented that many course sellers may struggle during an economic slowdown as consumers become more cautious about spending on online learning programmes.

Known for creating content around personal finance, careers, productivity and entrepreneurship, Warikoo launched his courses business in 2020 and rapidly built a strong digital audience across platforms.

He currently has nearly 4 million followers on Instagram, close to 7 lakh followers on X, and more than 7 million subscribers on YouTube.

Over the years, his online courses attracted lakhs of students, making him one of India’s most recognised creator-entrepreneurs in the self-improvement and finance space.
