Apple has rolled out iOS 26.5.1, a minor software update aimed at fixing a charging-related issue affecting select iPhone users. The update is currently available for the iPhone 17 lineup and iPhone Air devices.
According to Apple, the update addresses a bug that could prevent wired charging from functioning properly when the battery level on certain devices becomes critically low.
Update Focuses Solely On Charging Bug
Unlike major iOS updates that introduce new features and interface changes, iOS 26.5.1 focuses entirely on resolving the charging issue.
Apple stated that some users experienced problems where their devices failed to begin wired charging when the battery was almost completely drained. Reports suggested that only a limited number of users were affected by the issue.
The company has not shared detailed technical information about the bug but confirmed that the issue has now been fixed through the latest software patch.
Available For iPhone 17 Series And iPhone Air
The update is available for the entire iPhone 17 lineup, including iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air.
Apple has advised users to keep their devices updated, especially when updates contain important fixes related to charging, battery management and overall system stability.
While the official release notes mainly mention the charging fix, Apple may have also included additional performance and stability improvements that were not publicly detailed.
Update Comes Ahead Of WWDC 2026
The release of iOS 26.5.1 comes just days before Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026, scheduled to begin on June 8.
At the event, Apple is expected to unveil iOS 27 along with several major software announcements across its ecosystem.
Meanwhile, Apple is already testing iOS 26.6 in beta, which is expected to include minor bug fixes and refinements before the company fully shifts focus toward the next-generation operating system.
How To Install iOS 26.5.1
Users can install the update by opening the Settings app, selecting General and then tapping Software Update.
If the update is available, users can choose Download and Install. After downloading, the device will prompt users to install immediately, schedule the installation for later or receive a reminder.
Apple may also ask users to enter their device passcode before proceeding with the installation process.
