EPFO subscribers may soon be able to withdraw provident fund money through ATM cards and UPI as part of the EPFO 3.0
May 8 , 2026: Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation is set to introduce ATM-based provident fund withdrawals by the end of May 2026 as part of its EPFO 3.0 modernisation initiative. According to reports, the upgraded digital system aims to make PF-related services faster and more convenient for subscribers through features such as ATM withdrawals, auto-claim settlements and seamless bank transfers.
Under the new system, EPFO subscribers will receive EPF-linked ATM cards that will allow them to withdraw funds directly, similar to regular banking transactions. Members will also reportedly be able to check PF balances through UPI, transfer funds to preferred bank accounts and securely update account details using OTP-based verification. To use the new services, subscribers must have an active Universal Account Number (UAN) along with linked KYC documents such as Aadhaar, PAN and bank account details.
Reports suggest that EPFO may allow withdrawals of up to 50 percent of the PF balance to ensure emergency savings remain intact. Meanwhile, Mansukh Mandaviya recently stated that EPFO settled 8.31 crore claims during FY 2025-26, including over 5.5 crore advance or partial withdrawal claims. He added that more than 71 percent of advance claims were processed automatically within three days, highlighting improvements in the organisation’s digital claim settlement system.
