E-commerce unicorn Meesho has reported a stellar performance for the fourth quarter of FY26, marking a significant step toward profitability. The company successfully narrowed its quarterly losses by a staggering 88%, while operating revenue surged to ₹3,531 crore.

This financial turnaround highlights Meesho’s maturing business model and its ability to scale efficiently in India’s highly competitive digital retail landscape, particularly within the value-focused consumer segment.

AI Integration Drives User Engagement and Sales

A major catalyst for this growth has been Meesho’s aggressive pivot toward artificial intelligence. The platform’s specialized AI features, including Vaani (a voice search tool) and PRISM (a smart recommendation engine), have revolutionized the shopping experience for its diverse user base. These technological advancements led to a 32% jump in annual transacting users, reaching a milestone of 264 million. Furthermore, the company reported a 43% increase in Gross Merchandise Value (GMV), proving that personalized AI interventions are directly translating into higher transaction volumes.

Empowering the Seller Ecosystem and Small-Town India

Beyond the consumer side, Meesho has seen a massive expansion in its seller community. By deploying AI-driven tools that simplify the onboarding and cataloging process, the platform has made it easier for small-scale entrepreneurs to launch their businesses online. CEO Vidit Aatrey emphasized that these strategic investments are central to the company’s mission of democratizing e-commerce. By focusing on local languages and accessibility in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, Meesho is successfully tapping into “Bharat” and bridging the gap between local sellers and nationwide demand.

Looking ahead, Meesho intends to double its focus on AI to maintain its current momentum. The company is exploring deeper integration of generative AI to further refine logistics and customer support. As it continues to slash losses and grow its top line, Meesho is positioning itself as a dominant tech-led player in the Indian e-commerce space, challenging established giants by focusing on low-cost operations and high-tech efficiency.
