CBI Arrests Key Conspirator in NEET-UG Irregularities Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Aman Singh, the suspected key conspirator in the NEET-UG irregularities case, in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, according to officials.

Previously, on Friday, the CBI apprehended Dr. Ehsaan Ul Haq and Imtiaz Alam, principal and vice principal of the Oasis School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. Haq was appointed city coordinator for the NEET-UG 2024 exam.

This follows the arrests of Manish Prakash and Ashutosh in Patna, Bihar. A senior CBI official confirmed that Ashutosh arranged safe houses for students, while Manish transported them to a school for exam preparation.

Last month, the central government tasked the CBI with investigating NEET-UG irregularities, leading to multiple FIRs for paper leaks, impersonation, and cheating.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducted NEET-UG, faces criticism and protests demanding its disbandment due to alleged irregularities. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear pleas about the paper leak and irregularities on July 8.

Previously, the Supreme Court sought a response from the NTA regarding the integrity of the NEET-UG 2024 exam. The Centre and NTA had canceled grace marks for 1,563 candidates and offered a retest on June 23, which 813 students attended across seven centers.
