Despite its high-profile nature, Aamir Khan’s role as a criminal syndicate head has been widely described by fans as “unmemorable” and “wasted” in the action-packed film.
August 14, 2025: Bollywood icon Aamir Khan has made a rare appearance in a non-Hindi movie. He has a small part in Rajinikanth’s new movie, Coolie. Fans have had a shockingly divided and mostly negative response to the much-publicized job, nevertheless.

Khan plays Daaha, the boss of a global crime organization, in the last act of the movie. He fights Rajinikanth’s character, Deva. Even though the setup was big, a post on the subreddit Bolly Blinds n Gossip called “So SRK really dodged a bullet by rejecting this cameo” soon set the tone for the conversation. The title made it sound like the cameo wasn’t good enough for a star like Khan.
Many fans agreed in the comments that Khan was “wasted” in the part and that the last 15 minutes of the movie, which were full of “unbearable” fight scenes, were a letdown. Some others even asked why the actor, who is known for being picky about movies, consented to do the job.
Some fans, meanwhile, defended the cameo, saying it was “pretty fun” to see Khan speak Tamil. Another viewer liked how the scenario set up a terrific flashback for Rajinikanth’s character. Even if people have different thoughts on the cameo, Coolie has done quite well at the box office, with the most advance bookings in Tamil cinema history. Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, and Sathyaraj are present in the movie, which was directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
