Veteran singer-composer Adnan Sami has finally broken his silence on the intense backlash he faced after meeting Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat.

The controversy erupted in February 2026 when Sami attended a two-day event marking the RSS centenary in Mumbai and shared photos of a cordial meal with Bhagwat on Instagram. The images quickly triggered a political firestorm and heavy social media trolling, but Sami made it clear in a recent interview that he is completely unfazed by the public outcry, stating he does not “give a sh*t” about external opinions.

A Free Soul Operating with No Filter

Addressing the online criticism, the Padma Shri recipient emphasized his independent mindset and asserted that his personal associations are nobody else’s business. “I am a free soul and, thankfully, I have lost all my filters also, so I do what I feel like, and I am not answerable to anybody but God,” Sami stated boldly. He explained that he treats people based on how they treat him, refusing to let preconceived notions or external ideological debates dictate his interactions. He further called out trolls for constructing an entirely “false impression” of his character based on isolated photographs.

Beyond the Trolling: Celebrating Individuality on Screen

Sami, who was officially granted naturalized Indian citizenship on January 1, 2016, is no stranger to public scrutiny regarding his identity. Opponents previously weaponized his past Pakistani citizenship and his father’s military history during the row. Dismissing the digital noise, the singer remains tightly focused on his creative endeavors. He recently released his latest vibrant pop single, Lipstick, a feel-good track aimed at breaking social stigmas and encouraging audiences to proudly embrace their true, authentic selves.
