Bollywood star Akshay Kumar recently grabbed attention after experiencing a brief memory lapse while praising the blockbuster success of Saiyaara. During a media interaction, the actor couldn’t recall the names of the film’s lead stars, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, referring to them simply as the “new boy” and the “new girl.” The moment has since gone viral across social media.

While discussing what makes a film successful in theatres, Akshay Kumar said that a movie’s destiny ultimately determines its performance at the box office. He argued that a film doesn’t necessarily require a grand promotional campaign, massive star cast or large-scale event to become a hit if it connects emotionally with audiences.

During the conversation, Akshay momentarily forgot both the title of Saiyaara and the names of its lead actors. After director Ahmed Khan reminded him of the film’s name, Akshay continued by saying that Saiyaara succeeded because of its soulful music, heartfelt romance and the strong performances delivered by its newcomers. He added that the chemistry between the lead pair and the film’s emotional appeal resonated deeply with audiences.

Akshay also praised the makers for proving that content remains king. According to him, Saiyaara became a massive success without relying on extravagant promotional events, highlighting that a well-told love story backed by memorable music can still dominate the box office.

Directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Yash Raj Films, Saiyaara stars newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in the lead roles. The romantic drama emerged as one of the biggest Hindi blockbusters of 2025, becoming the third highest-grossing Hindi film of the year and the highest-grossing Indian romantic film of all time. The film is also believed to be loosely inspired by the acclaimed 2004 South Korean film A Moment to Remember.

Akshay Kumar’s candid moment has now become a talking point online, with fans finding the incident amusing while appreciating that the actor still took time to acknowledge the remarkable success of Saiyaara and its young cast.
