April 14, 2025: As part of the promotions for their upcoming historical drama Kesari Chapter 2, actors Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar to offer prayers. The trio shared serene moments from their spiritual visit, expressing gratitude and seeking blessings before the film’s release.
Akshay Kumar shared a picture from the visit on Instagram, captioning it, “Sir jhukaya, sukun paya” (Head bowed, found peace). In the image, all three actors can be seen with folded hands, immersed in prayer at the holy shrine.
Ananya Panday also took to social media, posting a photo with her co-stars with the caption, “Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh #KesariChapter2.”
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Karan Johar, Kesari Chapter 2 tells the untold story of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919. Akshay Kumar will portray the legendary advocate C. Sankaran Nair, who played a pivotal role in challenging British authority following the tragic event. The film is set to hit theatres on April 18.
The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, a turning point in India’s freedom struggle, occurred on April 13, 1919, when British troops opened fire on a peaceful gathering in Amritsar, killing hundreds. While official records cite 291 deaths, Indian leaders claimed the actual number was significantly higher.
The first installment, Kesari (2019), focused on the 1897 Battle of Saragarhi, and starred Parineeti Chopra alongside Akshay Kumar. The sequel now shifts focus to another poignant chapter of India’s colonial history, with a fresh cast and a powerful storyline.
