The highly anticipated first look at Yash Raj Films’ newest addition to its blockbuster Spy Universe, Alpha, has officially landed, but early reactions suggest it might not have hit the bullseye. Released on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, the 1-minute 55-second teaser introduces Bollywood powerhouse Alia Bhatt in a gritty, high-octane action avatar. While the teaser packs plenty of punches, heavy stunts, and explosive sequences, critics and fans alike are calling the final output strictly average, noting that the quintessential YRF cinematic spark seems to be noticeably missing from the footage.
The teaser opens on an intriguing note, featuring a seemingly quiet dinner sequence between Alia Bhatt and Bobby Deol, who are celebrating Bhatt’s character’s 18th birthday. The tone shifts instantly when Deol’s character coldly informs her that reaching adulthood means it is time to execute her very first lethal mission. From there, the clip plunges headfirst into an action heavy zone, showcasing Bhatt engaging in brutal hand-to-hand combat and sleek tactical maneuvers. However, the pacing falters in the middle, attempting to blend intense choreography with an awkward comedic undertone including a sequence where Alia laughs mid-fight making the overall execution feel repetitive and haywire.
Adding to the viewer disappointment is the total absence of co-lead Sharvari. Despite Alpha being heavily promoted and celebrated as the Spy Universe’s first dual-heroine-led project, the young actress does not make a single appearance in this debut footage, leaving fans wanting more context. While Alia Bhatt delivers a physically dedicated performance and Bobby Deol looks predictably menacing, the snippet fails to completely engross its audience. Film buffs are now holding out hope that the movie’s upcoming trailers and musical assets will offer a more cohesive and gripping narrative.
Alongside the teaser drop, the makers also confirmed yet another shift in the film’s theatrical rollout. Originally slated for December last year before being pushed to April, and then July 10, Alpha has now been preponed to hit the big screens on July 3, 2026.
The new date sets up a massive box office clash, as it will go head-to-head with the Huma Qureshi-starrer Baby Do Die Do. In contrast to Alpha’s mixed reception, the teaser for Qureshi’s dark comedy dropped just a day prior and has already managed to thoroughly impress critics and social media audiences.
