Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan continues to expand his real estate portfolio in Ayodhya, with entrepreneur Abhinandan Lodha revealing that the Bollywood icon transferred ₹15 crore within a day after expressing interest in buying land in the temple city.
Speaking to media, Lodha shared details of his first conversation with Bachchan regarding the purchase.
“This Is Amitabh Bachchan”
Lodha recalled that he was in Australia in 2023 when he received multiple missed calls around 3 a.m.
“There were a couple of missed calls, followed by a message that read, ‘This is Amitabh Bachchan, please call back when convenient.’ I literally stood up and called him back,” he said.
According to Lodha, Bachchan immediately spoke about his desire to own land in Ayodhya.
“Abhinandan ji, main UP se hoon aur mujhe Ayodhya mein land leni hai (I am a native of Uttar Pradesh and I want to buy land in Ayodhya).”
Lodha assured the actor that his team would facilitate the purchase.
₹15 Crore Transferred the Next Day
During the conversation, Bachchan asked about the price of the property.
Lodha said he initially hesitated to discuss pricing with the legendary actor but eventually informed him that 15,000 square feet of land would cost approximately ₹15 crore.
“I told him it may be around ₹15 crore. The very next day he sent me ₹15 crore,” Lodha revealed.
Amitabh Bachchan’s Growing Ayodhya Property Portfolio
Bachchan has steadily increased his investments in Ayodhya since before the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in January 2024.
His first purchase was a 10,000-square-foot plot in The Sarayu, a luxury township developed by The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL).
In March 2026, HoABL announced the sale of 2.67 acres of land in Ayodhya to Amitabh Bachchan for ₹35 crore. The transaction was executed by Rajesh Yadav, Managing Director of AB Corp Ltd.
According to the company, this marked Bachchan’s third investment in Ayodhya through HoABL and his fourth property acquisition overall in the city.
Investments Beyond Ayodhya
Apart from Ayodhya, Bachchan has also invested in HoABL’s Sol de Alibaug project by purchasing another 10,000-square-foot plot.
Lodha described the actor’s investments as a reflection of confidence in land ownership as a long-term family asset.
“Mr Bachchan’s investment reflects a shared belief in land as an intergenerational asset that preserves value over the long term. Faith in Ayodhya is a legacy shared by generations,” he said.
Ayodhya Emerging as a Real Estate Destination
Lodha also highlighted Ayodhya’s rapid transformation, crediting infrastructure development and government investment for boosting its appeal.
He said the city’s improving connectivity and public investment are making it an attractive destination for long-term real estate investment and wealth creation.
