AR Rahman Hospitalized After Dehydration And Neck Pain, Team Refutes Heart Issue Rumors

March 16, 2025: Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman was recently hospitalized in Chennai due to dehydration and neck pain after travel, according to his team. The 58-year-old musician underwent a series of tests, all of which came back normal. Rahman is expected to be discharged the same day.

His team has denied circulating rumors that he was hospitalized due to chest pain, labeling the reports as “fake news.” “It’s fake news (on heart issues) spreading now. Rahman went to the hospital because he got dehydrated and has neck pain due to travel,” said Rahman’s representatives.

The maestro, who is involved in several music projects and gigs, recently performed with Ed Sheeran in Chennai during Sheeran’s Mathematics Tour. The duo wowed fans by remixing Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” with Rahman’s iconic “Urvasi.” Following the performance, Ed Sheeran took to Instagram to express his honor of sharing the stage with Rahman.

Rahman is currently working on several projects, including composing the music for the film Tere Ishk Mein, a spiritual sequel to the hit Raanjhanna. Directed by Anand L. Rai, the film stars Dhanush and Kriti Sanon.

Recently, Rahman’s ex-wife, Saira Banu, was also hospitalized following a medical emergency and surgery. The couple had announced their separation on November 19, 2024, after nearly 29 years of marriage.
