Mumbai: Actor Rahul Roy has received an outpouring of support from industry peers after he shared an emotional message addressing online trolling over his recent social media reels.
Among those backing him was Archana Puran Singh, who praised Roy for staying true to himself despite criticism. Responding to his post, she wrote, “More power to you… Love that you are doing what works for you and keeps you happy. You’re always amazing and I totally binged on the reels with your OG songs.”

Rahul Roy Responds to Trolls
The controversy began after Roy posted a series of Instagram reels, some of which were labelled “cringe” by sections of social media users. One such video featured him dancing to the popular track Tere Dar Pe Sanam from the film Phir Teri Kahaani Yaad Aayi, in which he starred alongside Pooja Bhatt.
Addressing the backlash, Roy penned a heartfelt note highlighting his ongoing struggles. He revealed that he is dealing with legal issues that predate his brain stroke and emphasised that he continues to work with honesty to manage his responsibilities.
“I do my work with honesty and modesty… If you mock my simplicity or make fun of my struggles, it says less about me and more about you,” he wrote. He also urged those criticising him to help him find meaningful work instead.
Industry Voices Rally Behind Him
Roy’s post struck a chord within the film fraternity. Filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan extended her wishes, writing, “Good luck to you, Rahul.” Actor Sonu Sood added, “Keep rocking, brother,” reinforcing the message of solidarity.
Mixed Reactions on Social Media
While some users mocked the actor’s content, others expressed concern and empathy, acknowledging his efforts to rebuild his career after health challenges. The debate highlights the often harsh nature of online criticism, especially for public figures navigating personal and professional setbacks.
A Message Beyond Social Media
Roy’s response has shifted the narrative from ridicule to resilience, underlining the importance of empathy in digital spaces. His candid admission about financial and legal pressures has also brought attention to the realities many actors face behind the spotlight.
