Organisation says unauthorised use in films, reels and digital content may invite legal action
March 13, 2026: The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has issued a public notice warning against the misuse of its name, logo, uniform and institutional identity across digital and entertainment platforms. The organisation said several instances have recently surfaced where its identity was used without permission in films, web series, social media reels and other digital content. KVS clarified that no individual, filmmaker, production house or digital creator can use its uniform, look-alike uniforms, logo, emblem or name without prior written approval.
In the notice, KVS emphasised that portraying the organisation, its students, teachers or schools in a derogatory, misleading or objectionable manner is strictly prohibited. It stated that such depictions damage the institution’s reputation and affect the dignity of students and educators. The organisation added that any unauthorised use could be treated as defamation, misrepresentation and violation of intellectual property and trademark rights.
The warning comes amid controversy surrounding rapper Badshah and his song “Tateeree,” which drew criticism from several women’s organisations for allegedly inappropriate lyrics and visuals. An FIR was filed on March 6 at the Cyber Police Station in Panchkula under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986. Following the backlash, Badshah removed the song from platforms and issued a public apology, saying he never intended to hurt sentiments and expressing pride in his roots in Haryana.
