Country music artist Bailey Zimmerman is facing controversy after new details emerged about an incident that took place in New Mexico shortly before he cancelled a scheduled performance.
The singer was due to perform at Sandia Resort and Casino on May 27. However, just hours before the show, he announced that he was unwell and would not be able to perform.
At the time, fans were told the cancellation was due to health concerns. However, newly released information from state authorities has presented a different version of events.
Allegations Detailed in Arrest Warrant Affidavit
According to reports, an affidavit supporting an arrest warrant for Zimmerman outlines several allegations related to his behavior before the cancelled concert.
The document states that Zimmerman spent part of the day golfing before returning to the resort. Surveillance footage reportedly showed him arriving with members of his band and gathering outside the hotel.
Investigators alleged that Zimmerman and his band members were seen sharing a cigarette outside the property. The affidavit further claimed that Zimmerman intentionally burned some of the band members with the cigarette while they appeared to laugh and continue interacting with him.
Problems Reportedly Escalated During Soundcheck
According to the affidavit, tensions increased when Zimmerman and his team arrived at the venue for a scheduled soundcheck.
Security personnel reportedly believed the singer had been consuming alcohol and was upset with members of his management and band.
The document alleges that the soundcheck became disorderly. Zimmerman was accused of throwing microphones and parts of a drum kit, struggling to maintain his balance, and repeatedly leaving and returning to the stage.
Band members allegedly attempted to calm him down several times. However, the situation reportedly continued to deteriorate.
Investigators also claimed that Zimmerman kicked musical equipment and pushed one of the guitarists before leaving the venue.
Incident Continued After Leaving the Venue
The affidavit further alleges that Zimmerman threw a water bottle while walking toward a waiting SUV.
Authorities claim he later drank from another bottle and spat in the direction of a security officer. The document also states that Zimmerman became upset because a white SUV had arrived instead of a black one and initially refused to get inside the vehicle.
Eventually, he entered the SUV and returned to the hotel.
Alleged Hotel Behavior
After arriving back at the hotel, Zimmerman reportedly walked toward the wrong entrance, lost a shoe, and had difficulty walking.
Later that day, the concert was officially cancelled.
Fans were informed that the singer was not feeling well enough to perform. However, the allegations contained in the affidavit have raised questions about what happened behind the scenes before the cancellation.
No Conviction or Final Ruling Yet
It is important to note that the allegations described in the affidavit are accusations made during an investigation. They have not been proven in court, and Zimmerman remains presumed innocent unless and until a court determines otherwise.
The case has attracted significant attention from fans and the music industry, as many await further developments regarding the allegations and any legal proceedings that may follow.
