June 18, 2025: After speculation over censorship issues, Aamir Khan’s upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par has received official clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film is now slated for theatrical release on June 20, 2025.

The movie, directed by RS Prasanna, is considered a spiritual successor to Aamir’s 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. It tells the story of 10 specially-abled children who are coached into a football team by Aamir’s character.

Reports had emerged about disagreements between Aamir Khan and the CBFC over suggested cuts. The Revising Committee (RC), headed by Vaman Kendre, reviewed the film on June 16 and approved it with some modifications. Key changes included replacing “Business Woman” with “Business Person,” changing “Michael Jackson” to “Lovebirds,” removing a visual containing the word “Kamal,” and updating the disclaimer with a new voiceover and a quote from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The British Censor Board has given the film a 12A certificate, allowing viewers above 12 to watch it freely, while younger audiences can attend with parental guidance. The film runs for 2 hours and 35 minutes.
