December 5, 2025: Actress Celina Jaitly has shared an emotional and hopeful update after the Delhi High Court directed the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to facilitate communication with her brother, Major (Retd) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has been detained in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since September 2024.
The actress revealed that she has been unable to speak to her brother for the last 15 months, describing the ordeal as a “countdown of fear and hope.”
Court Orders MEA to Facilitate Communication
On Thursday, the Delhi High Court heard Celina Jaitly’s petition seeking both access to and legal representation for her brother. During the hearing, the MEA filed its Status Report and confirmed the appointment of a Nodal Officer to coordinate with the actress.
The court specifically directed the MEA to ensure that Major Jaitly is informed during his next consular access that his sister wishes to speak with him. Furthermore, the court instructed the Ministry to make efforts to help Celina communicate with her brother, possibly through the TAMM app or other available methods.
Additional Solicitor General, Sr. Adv. Chetan Sharma, assured the court that the government would make its “best efforts” to get Celina to speak to Vikrant.
Celina’s Hopeful Note
Following the hearing, Celina took to Instagram to share a picture with her parents and brother, expressing her commitment and gratitude for the court’s acknowledgment.
“Ma & Pa.. I am doing my best! I Haven’t Spoken to Vikrant in 15 Months. Today, Hope Was Placed on Record.. Thank you Universe!!” she wrote. “I’m grateful to Ld. ASG, and the Court and the who recognised my suffering and acknowledged our family’s 4 generations of contributions to the Indian armed forces.”
The actress has been vocal about her anguish, stating that she will not rest until her brother safely returns to India. She concluded her update by noting that the next court date is December 23, expressing that she looks forward to the next steps optimistically.
