July 11, 2025: A shocking firing incident at comedian Kapil Sharma’s café in Surrey, Canada, has been claimed by Harjit Singh Laddi, a known operative of the banned Khalistani terror outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). Laddi, who is also on India’s NIA most-wanted list, took to social media to claim responsibility, alongside Toofan Singh, citing a past comedy segment on The Kapil Sharma Show as the provocation.
Why the Attack?
According to Laddi, the show featured a character wearing Nihang Sikh attire, with “humorous” remarks that were viewed as offensive and disrespectful to the Sikh martial order. He alleged that despite multiple attempts to contact Sharma’s team, they received no response or public apology.
“No religion or spiritual identity can be mocked under the guise of comedy,” Laddi stated online.
Details of the Firing
The incident took place on Wednesday night (July 10) at Kap’s Café, just days after its grand opening on July 4. Police responded to reports of shots fired at 1:50 am, confirming damage to the property while staff were still present. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the café team said they were “processing the shock” but vowed not to back down.
