A viral screenshot claiming Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone shared and later deleted an Instagram Story in support of activist Sonam Wangchuk has sparked widespread discussion across social media. The alleged Story quickly gained traction, with many users questioning why the actress would remove the post shortly after uploading it. However, there is no evidence to support these claims.

The viral screenshot purportedly shows Deepika re-sharing a post featuring Sonam Wangchuk with the caption, “He is fasting. We are scrolling.” It also claims she wrote, “Why is no one speaking about this? We are living through the darkest hour of democracy,” followed by another line criticising the government. As the screenshot circulated, several users speculated that the actress had deleted the Story within minutes of posting it.

The rumours intensified after multiple social media posts cited unverified claims that Deepika had removed the Story. Some users even speculated about the reason behind the alleged deletion, but none of these claims were backed by credible evidence.

A verification of Deepika Padukone’s official social media accounts, along with credible media reports, shows no evidence that she ever shared or deleted the alleged Instagram Story. There is no record of the post on her verified accounts, and no reliable source has confirmed its existence.

The viral screenshot appears to be digitally altered, making the claim false. At present, there is nothing to suggest that Deepika publicly shared a message supporting Sonam Wangchuk through the alleged Instagram Story. Users are advised not to share or amplify such screenshots without first verifying their authenticity.

Meanwhile, Sonam Wangchuk continues his indefinite hunger strike at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and examination-related issues. Several public figures, including Swara Bhasker, Shabana Azmi, Soni Razdan, Zeenat Aman, Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Abhay Deol, Omi Vaidya, Anurag Kashyap, Munawar Faruqui and singer Kaka, have publicly expressed support for the activist and urged authorities to engage in dialogue.
