Diljit Dosanjh’s Satluj was removed from ZEE5 in India just two days after its release, sparking widespread discussion on social media. Now, a viral video of the actor has added a new twist to the controversy.
In the clip, Diljit is heard saying that he feared the film might be taken down from the streaming platform. The video, which was recorded before the removal, has now gone viral online.
Diljit Said He Feared the Film Could Be Removed
Speaking in Punjabi, Diljit said:
“There’s fear that the film could be removed from ZEE5 on Monday. There is this fear. But then someone would have downloaded the film by then. Koi gal nahi (No problem). No tension. Those who want to stop this, they can try.”
The video gained traction after ZEE5 officially removed the film, with many fans saying the actor had anticipated the development.
ZEE5 Issues Official Statement
After taking Satluj off its platform in India, ZEE5 released an official statement. However, the company did not specify the exact reason behind the decision.
The platform thanked viewers for the overwhelming response the film received after its release.
“The response to Satluj since its release has been truly overwhelming. We are deeply grateful to every viewer who chose to subscribe, watch and champion the film. Your love and support have meant a great deal to us and to everyone who brought this story to life,” the statement read.
Streaming Platform Backs the Film
Although the movie has been removed, ZEE5 reaffirmed its support for the project and its creators.
The platform said it remains committed to promoting meaningful stories and creative freedom.
“At ZEE5, we stand firmly by Satluj and the creative vision behind it. We believe powerful storytelling has the ability to inspire, endure and leave a lasting impact. We remain committed to championing authentic and meaningful narratives,” the company stated.
ZEE5 also confirmed that the film will remain unavailable in India until further notice.
The company added that it is exploring every appropriate legal avenue to restore the film for Indian audiences as soon as possible.
Diljit Breaks His Silence
Following the removal of Satluj, Diljit Dosanjh shared a cryptic message on Instagram.
Posting a short clip from the film, he wrote:
“#ichallengethedarkness Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra Ji #Panjab95 SATLUJ naal v oh hee hoyea jo Khalra Saab naal hoyea c.”
The message translates to:

The post was widely interpreted as the actor’s reaction to the film being taken down.
About Satluj
Directed by Honey Trehan, Satluj is based on one of the most sensitive chapters in Punjab’s history during the militancy era.
The film follows the life of Jaswant Singh Khalra, a human rights activist who became known for documenting alleged illegal disappearances and secret cremations in Punjab.
Diljit Dosanjh plays the lead role, while Kanwaljeet Singh, Arjun Rampal, Suvinder Vicky, and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan also feature in important roles.
The removal of the film has sparked debate among audiences and public figures, with many expressing hope that Satluj will return to ZEE5 in India soon.
