Country music icon Dolly Parton made a surprise public appearance just weeks after cancelling her Las Vegas residency due to health issues. The 80-year-old singer attended the opening of Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop in Cornersville, Tennessee, delighting fans who were concerned about her health.

Dolly Parton Opens New Tennessee Travel Stop

Parton appeared at the launch event of her newly opened travel stop, which features barbecue, coffee and a themed café called Cup of Ambition, a reference to her famous song 9 to 5.

Although she remained at the event for only a few minutes, the singer looked energetic and cheerful. She wore a blue fringed outfit paired with sparkling heels and greeted supporters gathered for the opening ceremony.

Adding her trademark humor to the occasion, Parton joked about her decision to open a truck stop.

“I’m sure some of you wondered why I wanted a truck stop — well, I couldn’t leave it to beavers,” she told the crowd, referencing the popular travel center chain Buc-ee’s.

She officially inaugurated the facility by cutting the ribbon with oversized pink sparkling scissors before leaving the venue.

Latest Addition to Dolly Parton’s Business Ventures

The travel stop is the newest addition to Parton’s growing business portfolio in Tennessee. Besides food and beverage services, the location also offers exclusive merchandise inspired by the singer.

Meanwhile, her upcoming SongTeller Hotel is expected to begin welcoming guests in the coming months, further expanding her hospitality ventures.

Health Concerns Led to Las Vegas Residency Cancellation

Parton has kept a relatively low profile in recent months. She stepped back from public appearances following the death of her husband, Carl Dean, last year.

In October 2025, she postponed her Las Vegas residency because of an unspecified illness. Earlier, she had revealed that she was dealing with kidney stones.

While the singer has not disclosed complete details about her medical condition, she previously shared an update during a keynote speech at her theme park, Dollywood.

At the time, she admitted that the past few months had been physically demanding.

“I’ve had a few little health issues, and we’re taking good care of them,” she told fans.

Singer Says Recovery Is Progressing Well

In May, Parton released a video message explaining why she had cancelled her Las Vegas performances.

The singer said she was responding positively to medications and treatments and was improving every day. However, she explained that some of the treatments were making her feel dizzy and not yet ready for the demands of live stage performances.

As a result, she decided to prioritize her recovery before returning to the spotlight.

Fans Continue to Support the Country Music Legend

Despite the cancellation of her residency, fans have continued to show strong support for Parton throughout her recovery journey.

Her appearance at the Tennessee travel stop has reassured many supporters that she is recovering well. However, she has not announced any new concert dates or touring plans at this time.

For now, the legendary singer remains focused on her health while continuing to expand her business ventures and connect with fans in new ways.
