Mohanlal’s much-awaited thriller Drishyam 3 witnessed a noticeable slowdown at the box office on its first Monday after posting strong collections over the extended opening weekend. The film earned ₹7.35 crore net in India on Day 5, marking a decline of nearly 47 per cent compared to Sunday’s performance. Despite the weekday dip, the film continues to maintain an impressive overall run both domestically and internationally.
Strong Weekend Gives Film Solid Start
The third installment of the popular Drishyam franchise opened strongly on Thursday with ₹15.85 crore and managed to sustain decent momentum across the weekend. The film collected ₹11.05 crore on Friday before witnessing growth on Saturday and Sunday with collections of ₹13.70 crore and ₹13.85 crore respectively.
With Monday’s earnings added, the total India net collection of the film has now reached ₹61.80 crore, while the India gross collection stands at ₹71.74 crore.
Malayalam Version Continues To Lead
The Malayalam version remained the strongest contributor to the film’s overall collections on Monday, earning around ₹6.45 crore. The Telugu dubbed version added ₹55 lakh, while the Tamil version contributed ₹25 lakh. The Kannada version collected nearly ₹10 lakh during the day.
The film’s performance indicates that its core Malayalam audience continues to support the franchise strongly, even as weekday collections begin to slow down.
Overseas Market Remains Strong
The film has also delivered impressive numbers in international markets. On Day 5 alone, Drishyam 3 collected nearly ₹6 crore overseas, pushing its total international gross collection to ₹84.40 crore.
With strong overseas demand, especially among Malayalam cinema audiences, the film’s worldwide gross collection has now touched an estimated ₹156.14 crore within five days of release.
Mixed Reviews But Franchise Strength Holds
Directed as the third chapter in the hugely successful Drishyam franchise, the film opened to mixed-to-positive reviews from critics and audiences. While some viewers praised the emotional depth and suspense elements, others felt the latest installment could not fully match the brilliance of its predecessor.
However, the franchise’s loyal fan base and Mohanlal’s strong screen presence continue to drive audience interest at theatres.
Weekday Stability Crucial For Long Run
According to industry estimates, the film has reportedly been made on a budget of around ₹100 crore. While the worldwide numbers remain strong, the coming weekdays will now play a crucial role in determining the film’s long-term theatrical success.
With no major Malayalam blockbuster arriving immediately, Drishyam 3 still has an opportunity to maintain steady collections and strengthen its box office position in the coming days.
