The complainant, Yenumula Satyanarayana Murthy, filed the case on behalf of his son, Y.V. Dharmendra. According to police reports, Dharmendra met the actress, whose full name is Venkata Ashwini Reddy Koyya, through mutual friends in 2018. Although Dharmendra was going through a divorce at the time, Ashu Reddy, an ex-Big Boss contestant, reportedly promised to marry him, assuring him that his status was not an issue.

The Pretext for Extortion

Shortly after their relationship began, the accused allegedly started requesting financial help. She initially claimed she had a pending education loan for her Master’s degree in the US and issues with her H-1B visa. Over the next several years, the victim reportedly funded her lavish lifestyle and professional ambitions.

The victim’s financial support reportedly covered:

  • Property: Purchase of high-end flats and real estate advances.
  • Luxury Goods: Nearly 5 kg of gold and expensive jewelry.
  • Vehicles: Multiple luxury cars registered in her name.
  • Career: Direct funding for her entry and sustainability in the film industry.

Broken Promises and Legal Action

Whenever Dharmendra brought up the topic of marriage, the actress allegedly found excuses to delay the commitment. When he finally insisted on a formal family meeting in 2020, she reportedly rejected the proposal and began avoiding him. After a brief attempt at a settlement mediated by a veteran character artist, the relationship supposedly resumed in late 2020, only for the actress to back out again in July 2025.

Since December 2025, Ashu Reddy has reportedly cut off all communication. The victim later discovered she was allegedly in another relationship and had conspired with her family to extract money from him. Consequently, the police have booked Ashu Reddy alongside her father, mother, and sister under Section 318 of the BNS.
