The legal battle between actress Hansika Motwani and her ex-sister-in-law, TV actress Muskaan Nancy James, has taken a sharp, sarcastic turn. Following widespread reports that Hansika has approached a Mumbai court seeking ₹2 crore in damages for defamation, Muskaan took to social media to shut down the claims. In a biting Instagram Story posted on Saturday, she questioned the authenticity of the reports and denied receiving any official legal notice.
“Dearest paid PR team, a little verification before posting (and quietly deleting) would really help,” Muskaan wrote, adding a humorous jab at Mumbai’s notorious congestion: “Also… notice gaya hai kya? I understand, Mumbai traffic.” She further challenged the existence of the “secret informers” cited in news reports, urging the media to check facts before circulating stories. This reaction comes months after Muskaan filed an FIR against her husband Prashant Motwani, Hansika, and their mother Mona Motwani under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), alleging domestic violence.

On the other side of the courtroom, Hansika Motwani’s reported suit alleges that Muskaan’s accusations are a tactical move to avoid repaying an alleged ₹27 lakh loan borrowed during her marriage. Hansika has maintained that she had minimal involvement in her brother’s marital life and was not residing with the couple. The legal documents reportedly describe Muskaan as a “small-time television actor” who allegedly prioritized a lavish online persona over clearing financial dues.
The situation remains grim beneath the social media banter. In her initial FIR, Muskaan claimed that the stress of the alleged domestic violence led her to develop Bell’s Palsy, a condition causing temporary facial paralysis. As both parties trade legal blows and public barbs, the Mumbai courts are set to become the stage for a high-profile showdown involving domestic allegations, financial disputes, and now, a contested defamation suit.
