Dubbed the ‘Wedding of the Century’, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s multi-day celebration in Venice features A-list guests, sealed venues, luxury hotels, and a whopping ₹430 crore budget—with some trolling over their wedding invite.
Venice, June 27, 2025 — It’s the kind of wedding only billionaires can dream of. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sanchez have transformed Venice into a real-life fairytale as they gear up for a lavish ₹430 crore wedding celebration, described by Italian officials and media as nothing short of a “once-in-a-century” spectacle.
The three-day celebration began on June 26 and will culminate with a highly-guarded wedding ceremony on Saturday, expected to be held at the historic Arsenale, Venice’s centuries-old shipyard fortress.
₹430 Crore Budget & Historic Venue
The estimated cost of the festivities is between €40 to €48 million (approximately ₹430 crore), as revealed by Luca Zaia, President of the Veneto region. Among the reported philanthropic gestures, Bezos is also donating €1 million to Corila, a Venetian research organization dedicated to preserving the city’s fragile lagoon ecosystem.
Air & Water Takeover: 90 Jets & 30 Water Taxis
Venice’s airspace and waterways are buzzing with VIP activity. An estimated 90 private jets are said to have landed at airports in Venice, Treviso, and Verona, ferrying celebrity guests from across the globe. Among the earliest arrivals were Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, spotted arriving from Tuscany.
To navigate the labyrinth of Venetian canals, the couple’s event planners have reserved 30 private water taxis from local operators—each ready to glide celebrity guests from one historic venue to another.
A-List Guests in Five-Star Comfort
Around 200 to 250 guests have been accommodated in Venice’s most elite hotels, including the Hotel Cipriani on Giudecca Island and Aman Venice, the latter also having hosted George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s iconic 2014 wedding.

While everything else about the event screams “quiet luxury meets global opulence,” the couple’s wedding invitation has come under heavy fire online. A sneak peek of the invite, accessed by ABC News, sparked widespread trolling on social media, with many users branding it “tacky,” “ugly,” and a “graphic design disaster.”
A Celebration Wrapped in Glamour & Controversy
While the wedding has attracted fashionistas, influencers, and paparazzi alike, not everyone is amused. Environmental activists and locals have criticized the wedding’s scale, arguing that Venice is becoming a billionaire’s playground, while the city struggles under mass tourism and climate threats.
Still, for Bezos and Sanchez, this Venetian celebration is a grand statement of love, power, and exclusivity—with just enough global drama to make headlines for weeks to come.
