Vijay’s much-awaited final film Jana Nayagan is reportedly gearing up for a theatrical release in June 2026 after facing nearly five months of delay due to pending certification clearance.
The political action drama, originally scheduled to hit cinemas on January 9, was delayed after the film reportedly did not receive certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on time.
June 19 Release Date Sparks Excitement
According to reports, online ticket booking platforms have updated the release date of Jana Nayagan to June 19, 2026. Platforms including District and BookMyShow have reportedly listed the film for release next month, triggering excitement among fans.
However, the makers have not officially confirmed the date yet.
Producer Says Certification Still Pending
Producer Venkat K Narayana recently addressed the delay while speaking to the media during a temple visit in Tiruchendur. He stated that the film’s certification process is still underway and expressed confidence that clearance would be granted soon.
He also assured fans that the official release announcement would be made well in advance once the censor certificate is received.
Vijay’s Final Film Before Political Career
Vijay announced his retirement from acting earlier this year to focus fully on his political journey after becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. As a result, Jana Nayagan is being promoted as his final film after a career spanning more than three decades.
The film has generated massive anticipation among fans, making its release one of the biggest events in Tamil cinema this year.
