Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor recently shared her thoughts on the differences between the Hindi and Telugu film industries. Speaking during an interview with Zoom, the actress explained that Telugu cinema gives more importance to the creative process and also maintains a healthier work culture.
Janhvi made these remarks while promoting her upcoming film Peddi alongside co-star Ram Charan.
Janhvi Kapoor Praises Passion for Cinema in Telugu Industry
Talking about her experience in Telugu cinema, Janhvi said film sets are often driven by passion and pride rather than deadlines. According to her, the main goal is to create the best possible film instead of rushing to complete a project within a fixed timeline.
She explained that filmmakers in the Telugu industry are more willing to take extra time if it helps improve the final product. As a result, creative decisions often receive greater attention during production.
Janhvi said that this approach allows directors and actors to focus more on storytelling and filmmaking. Moreover, she believes that such flexibility can help bring out better performances and stronger cinema.
Bollywood Works in a More Structured Manner
While discussing Bollywood, Janhvi pointed out that the Hindi film industry generally follows a more organized system. Production schedules, planning sheets, and deadlines play a major role in the filmmaking process.
She said Bollywood projects are usually handled in a more structured way. However, she also noted that this method has both advantages and disadvantages.
According to Janhvi, strict planning helps productions stay on track and finish on time. On the other hand, creative compromises can sometimes happen when schedules become the top priority.
Nevertheless, she acknowledged that organization and discipline are important for managing large film projects efficiently.
Telugu Industry Gives Importance to Work-Life Balance
One of the biggest differences Janhvi noticed was the respect given to working hours in the Telugu film industry.
The actress praised the way actors, technicians, and crew members are treated on set. She said everyone gets proper breaks during the day, allowing them to rest and return to work with fresh energy.
According to Janhvi, lunch breaks are taken seriously. Team members can enjoy their meals and even take a short nap before resuming work. As a result, the atmosphere remains productive and less stressful.
She added that such practices are not always followed consistently in Bollywood productions.
Shorter and More Regulated Shooting Hours
Janhvi also revealed that Telugu film shoots generally have fixed working hours.
She shared that she rarely worked for more than 12 hours on a Telugu set. Most shooting days lasted around nine to ten hours. In addition, night shoots usually wrapped up by 2 a.m., allowing cast and crew members to get enough rest.
According to her, production teams are very particular about maintaining these schedules. Therefore, everyone involved can maintain a better balance between work and personal life.
Ram Charan Appreciates Bollywood’s Efficiency
Responding to Janhvi’s observations, Ram Charan highlighted a quality he admires in Bollywood.
The actor said Hindi films are often completed much faster than Telugu productions. He praised the industry’s ability to finish projects within tight schedules and deliver them on time.
Ram Charan mentioned that he would love to complete a film within 70 days or even less. Janhvi added that some Bollywood films are wrapped up in just 30 to 40 days.
However, Charan explained that large-scale Telugu productions can take much longer. He used Peddi as an example and revealed that the film required 285 shooting days spread over two years.

Peddi is directed by Buchi Babu Sana and stars Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles. The sports drama also features Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyendu Sharma, Ravi Kishan, and Boman Irani in important roles.
The film’s music has been composed by A. R. Rahman. Meanwhile, the makers are preparing for its worldwide theatrical release on June 4.
