January 27, 2025: Jay Shah, the newly appointed ICC chairman and former BCCI secretary, made a visit to Prayagraj on Monday with his family to attend the Maha Kumbh 2025. Upon his arrival, he received a warm welcome at the airport, as seen in a post shared on social media.
Before arriving in Prayagraj, Shah paid a visit to Ayodhya’s Hanumangarhi Temple on Sunday. Dressed in traditional Indian attire, he offered his prayers, a gesture that resonated with his spiritual side.
In addition to his visit to these sacred places, Jay Shah has been making waves in cricket administration. Recently, he was elected as a board member of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) advisory board. This appointment reflects his growing influence in global cricket affairs. On the advisory board, Shah joins prominent figures such as Sourav Ganguly, Graeme Smith, Andrew Strauss, and Kumar Sangakkara.
Shah, who took over as the ICC Chairman in December 2024, has a history of significant contributions to cricket. He was instrumental in the development of the world’s largest cricket stadium, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, and played a pivotal role in ensuring India successfully hosted the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
As a key figure in the world of cricket, his leadership continues to shape the future of the sport, and his ongoing involvement with organizations like the MCC highlights his dedication to its global growth.
With the upcoming World Cricket Connects forum in June, Shah is expected to play a crucial role in shaping discussions around the future of international cricket.
