Actor and filmmaker Justin Baldoni has publicly addressed his legal battle with Blake Lively for the first time in nearly two years, sharing an emotional message alongside his wife, Emily Baldoni. In a video posted on Instagram, the couple reflected on the challenges they faced during the prolonged legal dispute and explained why they chose to remain silent throughout the proceedings.
Justin revealed that although he and Emily had often considered speaking publicly about the controversy, they repeatedly felt it was not the right time. According to the actor, they intentionally avoided adding to the public discourse, choosing instead to let the legal process unfold without further commentary. He acknowledged that the past two years had been emotionally exhausting but said the family is now focused on moving forward.
Emily Baldoni echoed her husband’s sentiments, describing the experience as deeply traumatic for their family. She said there was “so much to say” about the events that unfolded but admitted the emotional impact made it difficult to speak openly. Emily added that navigating the situation had required them to process complex emotions while prioritizing the well-being of their family.
Justin also expressed gratitude to supporters who stood by him throughout the controversy. He said their encouragement, along with the support of family, friends, community, and faith, played a significant role in helping them heal. While acknowledging that recovery has not been straightforward, he emphasized that their focus has shifted toward spending quality time with their children and rebuilding their lives.
The legal dispute dates back to 2024, when Blake Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and alleged that he orchestrated a smear campaign during the production of It Ends With Us, a film in which the two starred together. Baldoni denied the allegations and later filed a $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, through Wayfarer Studios, claiming the accusations were false and had damaged his reputation.
The lawsuit was later dismissed by a judge, who ruled that Lively’s allegations were protected under litigation privilege. Ahead of the scheduled trial, both parties reached a settlement, resulting in the withdrawal of Lively’s lawsuit. Reports indicate that no financial compensation was exchanged as part of the agreement, although Lively has reportedly sought reimbursement of legal fees.
While the legal battle has formally concluded, Justin and Emily Baldoni indicated that there is still much they hope to discuss in the future. For now, however, the couple says their priority is healing, strengthening family bonds, and embracing a fresh chapter in their lives.
