July 28, 2025: Recently, 60-year-old actor Kevin James opened out about how his latest part affected his body. He said that while filming the new comedy-action movie Guns out, he tore his bicep. James talked about the injuries on the podcast Sibling Revelry with Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson.
James said that Guns Up was a nice change from his earlier sitcom performances, when he often felt “locked into these big kid [stereotypes].” But the shift of pace brought up problems that I didn’t expect. “Of course, it’s getting so hard as I get older. He said, “I ripped my bicep in this thing.”
The injury happened before the main filming started, while they were practicing the dance. “I literally—oh, dude—went straight through the whole thing… It ripped, and I was thinking, “Man, this is 60.” This is what is going on. James learned a lesson from this event: as he gets older, it’s even more important for him to stay in shape for the demanding parts he plays. He said that his body was “more forgiving” when he was younger.
Guns Up, which came out in theaters on July 18, stars James and Christina Ricci as Ray and Audrey Hayes, a married couple who want to operate a diner. Ray, a mafia enforcer, seeks to leave his life of crime, but his boss aggressively goes after his family because of it. The movie’s summary says that it is about “A family man who works as a henchman for the mob on the side has one night to get his family out of the city and keep his dark secret hidden after a job goes horribly wrong.”
