Anandita Sundar, daughter of actor-politician Khushbu Sundar and filmmaker-actor Sundar C, has spoken openly about the online trolling she has faced since childhood. In a recent podcast interview, the creative producer addressed constant criticism over her appearance and dismissed rumours that she used weight-loss drugs like Ozempic or Mounjaro, or underwent cosmetic surgery.

She explained that her transformation was the result of years of dedication and lifestyle changes rather than any shortcut.

Anandita reveals her long fitness journey

Speaking on the JFW podcast, Anandita shared that she and her elder sister Avantika were always chubby as children. However, as they grew older, both struggled with obesity and related health issues.

Because of those health concerns, they decided to focus on improving their fitness. Anandita said the journey began around 2018 or 2019 and took nearly seven years to achieve the results people see today.

She pointed out that much of her weight loss happened during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she was away from the public eye. As a result, many people wrongly assumed her transformation happened overnight.

“I started losing weight in 2018 or 2019. It has taken me seven years to get here. During COVID, people didn’t see us, so many assumed I had surgery. But they never saw the process,” she explained.

Anandita dismisses Ozempic and surgery rumours

As her transformation became more noticeable, social media users began claiming she had used Ozempic, Mounjaro or cosmetic procedures to lose weight.

However, Anandita firmly rejected those rumours. She said people often create stories without knowing the truth.

She added that criticism has never stopped, regardless of her appearance. Earlier, she was mocked for being overweight. Now, she faces accusations of using weight-loss injections.

“I laugh when people say Ozempic or Mounjaro because they simply make up stories. I realised the hate never really stops,” she said.

Says health was always the priority

Anandita made it clear that she never started losing weight to satisfy public opinion. Instead, her goal was to become healthier and improve her overall well-being.

She also reflected on the emotional impact of facing harsh comments at a young age. According to her, people often forget that celebrity children are still children.

“I never lost weight to please anyone else. I was only 15 years old when people started calling me ugly online. My parents were celebrities, not me. Why did people feel entitled to judge a child?” she said.

Career in filmmaking inspired lifestyle changes

Apart from discussing her fitness journey, Anandita also spoke about her career in the film industry.

She described herself as a privileged yet hardworking individual who chose a demanding profession at a young age. She worked with acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam during the post-production of Ponniyin Selvan 2. Later, she joined the team of Thug Life as an assistant director but had to step away after suffering an ankle fracture.

The injury further motivated her to focus on improving her health and fitness.

Anandita’s growing career in cinema

Anandita recently made her debut as a creative producer with Double Occupancy. The film is directed by Aswin Kandasamy and produced by Khushbu Sundar along with ACS Arun Kumar. It was released in theatres on June 12.

Meanwhile, she is also working on Meesaya Murukku 2, the sequel to Hiphop Tamizha Adhi’s 2017 hit film.
