Actor Shilpa Shinde has wasted no time stirring up drama after entering Netflix’s reality show Lock Upp Season 2. The Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai star made headlines after taking a dig at fellow contestant Akanksha Chamola, claiming that her identity on the show is tied to her estranged husband, television actor Gaurav Khanna.
The remark quickly became one of the biggest talking points inside the house, setting the stage for what could be one of the season’s first major rivalries.
Shilpa Shinde’s Remark on Akanksha Chamola
During a conversation with fellow contestants Shreya and Madhuri Jain, Shilpa questioned Akanksha’s presence on the reality show.
She said:
“Main usko bola woh Gaurav ke vajah se aayi hain. Maine kaha usko kabhi dekha tha.”
(I told her she’s here because of Gaurav. I asked, where had I ever seen her before?)
Contestant Sufi Motiwala later relayed Shilpa’s comments to Akanksha, who reacted with a smile and suggested that she was being singled out.
Akanksha Says Shilpa Doesn’t Like Her
The following morning, Akanksha admitted that if she were to have a confrontation with anyone in the house, it would likely be with Shilpa.
Speaking to the other contestants, she said:
“I feel Shilpa doesn’t like me.”
Akanksha also claimed that Shilpa had entered the show with the intention of picking fights and making allegations against fellow contestants.
Interestingly, while tensions appeared to be brewing between Shilpa and Akanksha, Shilpa seemed to strike up an early friendship with contestant Shreya on her very first day inside the house.
Akanksha Chamola Opens Up About Divorce From Gaurav Khanna
Akanksha had already made headlines during the premiere episode of Lock Upp Season 2 after publicly confirming her separation from Gaurav Khanna.
She revealed that one of the key reasons behind their divorce was their differing views on starting a family.
During a conversation with co-contestants Shreya Kalra and Sufi Motiwala, Akanksha explained:
“Jab hum shaadi mein the, mera maternal instinct kabhi nahi tha. But I was open to discovering it, and it was never shut down. Gradually, however, I realised that I am not meant for it, and he was okay with that. But I guess, in time, that shifted.”
According to Akanksha, she eventually realised that motherhood was not something she wanted, while Gaurav wished to have children, leading to differences that ultimately ended their marriage.
Gaurav Khanna and Akanksha’s Relationship
Gaurav Khanna and Akanksha Chamola got married on November 24, 2016, in Gaurav’s hometown of Kanpur.
Over the years, Akanksha has appeared in several television shows, including Santoshi Maa, Yeh Hai Aashiqui and Crime Patrol.
