Fans eagerly awaiting Salman Khan’s upcoming epic, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, will have to wait a little longer. According to recent reports on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, the film’s release has been indefinitely delayed as the makers have yet to submit the final cut to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Originally slated for an April release, the project has faced a series of regulatory hurdles and creative overhauls, including a major script revision to pivot the narrative into a more “anti-war” stance.

Sources indicate that despite significant reshoots—reportedly covering 40% of the film to add romantic backstories and fictional elements—the movie has not yet been screened for the Ministry of Defence, the Army, or the CBFC. A major point of contention has been the portrayal of neighboring countries; the Ministry reportedly requested that China not be explicitly mentioned. While the latest cut reportedly complies with this request, the core team is still navigating the necessary steps to secure a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from military authorities before formal certification can begin.

The delay comes at a busy time for Salman Khan, who has been making headlines for his “Prem-like” new look and his heartwarming presence at Anant Ambani’s 31st birthday celebrations in Jamnagar. While his off-screen bond with the Ambani family has won over social media, the uncertainty surrounding Maatrubhumi—directed by Apoorva Lakhia—has left the industry speculating. With the rumored May 2026 release window now looking unlikely, the production team is focused on ensuring a smooth transition through the various ministerial departments.

While Salman’s big-screen return is on hold, the Indian box office continues to be dominated by Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2, which recently crossed the ₹1095 crore mark.
