Filmmaker Rajiv S. Ruia will direct the project, which aims to be a gripping and sensitive portrayal of the political and legal turmoil that followed the 2008 blasts.
August 6, 2025: The official announcement of a new movie called Malegaon Files, which is based on the sad case of the Malegaon bomb attack in 2008, has been made. Rajiv S. Ruia will direct the project, which is still in the pre-production stage, while Sahil Seth will produce it.

The directors said they want the movie to be a “gripping and sensitive portrayal” of the tragedy and its long-lasting effects. Ruia, the director, remarked, “This is not just a story about a blast.” “It’s about what happened next.” The stories of real people, the political shadow, the hunt for truth, and the emotional and legal problems that the accused and the victims’ families are going through. He also said that the movie will be filmed in real places and that it is being made with a lot of research, including court records, investigative reports, and real-life testimonials.

Just a few weeks after a special court in Mumbai found all seven people guilty in the case on July 31, 17 years after the event, the announcement was made. The court said there wasn’t enough evidence and decided that the prosecution hadn’t proven the charge beyond a reasonable doubt. The explosion in 2008 killed six individuals and hurt 95 more.
