The legal and personal battle over the multibillion-dollar estate of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur has taken a bitter turn. Sunjay’s sister, Mandhira Kapur, has publicly lashed out at his widow, Priya Sachdev, accusing her of misleading the public and the courts regarding the family’s financial arrangements.

Speaking on the InControversial podcast, Mandhira dismissed Priya’s claims that Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, is being well-provided for by the company, Sona Comstar.

The Dispute Over Monthly Allowances

The conflict centers on the stark difference in monthly payouts reported by both sides:

  • Priya’s Claim: Her legal team alleged that Rani Kapur continues to draw over ₹21 lakh per month from the company, with all personal expenses covered.
  • Mandhira’s Counter-Claim: Mandhira revealed that after taxes and deductions, the amount reaching her mother is actually only ₹12 lakh.
  • The “Outsider” Allegation: Mandhira alleged that while the “creator” of the company (Rani Kapur) receives ₹12 lakh, Priya Sachdev is taking home between ₹3 crore to ₹5 crore every month from various company holdings.

“She (Priya) is not doing any favor to anyone. It is coming from the company. She thinks she is looking after my mother? I think she needs to have a reality check,” Mandhira stated during the podcast.

Battle for the Multibillion-Dollar Will

This public spat is part of a larger legal war currently unfolding in the Delhi High Court.

  1. Forgery Allegations: Sunjay’s children from his previous marriage to actress Karisma KapoorSamaira and Kiaan—have challenged the will produced by Priya Sachdev.
  2. The Plea: The children allege that the will is “forged and fabricated” with the intent to exclude them from their father’s massive estate.
  3. The Stakeholders: Sunjay Kapur, the former chairman of Sona Comstar, passed away in June 2025 during a polo match in London. His estate is now contested between his third wife, Priya, her son Azarias, and his children with Karisma Kapoor.

Mandhira concluded her remarks by emphasizing that the Kapur family name—not the Sachdev name—will always be the face of the Sona group, signaling that the family has no intention of backing down from the legal fight.
