Taj Jackson, nephew of the legendary King of Pop, Michael Jackson has publicly slammed a recent tabloid report claiming that the Jackson family is planning a massive “Thriller” world tour.

The rumors surfaced following the explosive global success of the biopic Michael, which hit theaters on April 24, 2026. Taking to social media on Saturday, Taj dismissed the claims as “lies” and accused the outlet of using fabricated sources to capitalize on the film’s current box office momentum.

Taj Jackson’s Fiery Rebuttal on X

In a blunt post on X (formerly Twitter) on May 2, 2026, Taj Jackson directly addressed the New York Post and journalist Stacy Brown, calling into question their credibility. “Leave my family alone with your lies and clickbait articles,” Taj wrote. He further alleged that the “family sources” cited in the report were nonexistent and criticized Brown’s historical bias against his uncle, stating, “Stacy Brown was having dinner with the prosecution team during my uncle’s trial. Stop trusting the tabloids.”

Michael Biopic: A Global Box Office Phenomenon

The backlash comes as the film Michael, starring Michael’s nephew Jaafar Jackson in a career-defining debut, dominates the worldwide box office.

  • Massive Opening: The film recorded a historic global opening of approximately $217 million (₹1,800+ crore), making it the highest-grossing biopic opening in cinematic history, surpassing titles like Oppenheimer and Bohemian Rhapsody.
  • Indian Market Growth: In India, the film has shown remarkable resilience. On its eighth day (Friday, May 1), the movie saw a 22% spike in collections, bringing its total India gross to roughly ₹35 crore.
  • Critical Reception: While the film has received a 3-star “mixed” review from many critics—with some praising the music and Jaafar’s performance while others critiqued the “sanitized” narrative—audience demand remains at an all-time high.

The “Thriller” Tour Rumors

The disputed reports suggested that the family intended to launch a hologram-led or tribute-style ‘Thriller’ tour to leverage the renewed “MJ mania” sparked by the film. However, Taj Jackson’s intervention suggests that no such plans are currently sanctioned by the inner circle. As of now, the family’s focus remains on the film’s theatrical run, which is expected to cross the $500 million mark globally by the end of its second weekend.
