May 08, 2025: Actors Michael Sheen (Passengers) and Eva Longoria (The Sentinel) are set to star in the upcoming family holiday comedy The 12 Days of Christmas, according to Variety.

Directed by BAFTA nominee Ben Gregor and penned by Ted Safran, the film is based on the bestselling novel The 12 Topsy-Turvy Very Messy Days of Christmas, co-written by James Patterson and Safran.

The story follows the dysfunctional Sullivan family, who have cancelled Christmas for five consecutive years following a personal tragedy. However, their holiday routine is disrupted when mysterious gifts begin arriving—starting with a partridge in a pear tree, followed by two turtle doves, and three calling birds, echoing the verses of the iconic Christmas song The Twelve Days of Christmas.

At the heart of the story is Henry, a grieving widower played by Sheen, and his two children, Will and Ella. As more extravagant and chaotic gifts arrive—including animals and unexpected houseguests—their lives are turned upside down.

Eva Longoria will portray Mariana, an official from Animal Protection Services who becomes entangled in the holiday madness.

The film’s synopsis, as quoted by Variety, notes: “Even though this Christmas will be messy, it might turn out to be just the gift the family needs.

Co-writer James Patterson expressed excitement about the casting, stating, “We couldn’t be more excited about Michael Sheen and Eva Longoria leading the cast. The same goes for Ben Gregor.

Separately, Longoria was recently honored with the Platino Honor Award at the 12th Platino Awards ceremony held in Madrid on April 27, recognizing her achievements and contributions to the film and television industry, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
