The success story of Obsession continues to surprise the film industry. Director Curry Barker’s psychological horror film has now become the highest-grossing Hollywood release in India in 2026 after crossing the Rs 75 crore mark at the domestic box office.

The film achieved this milestone in less than a month of its release. Moreover, it has earned more than ten times its reported production budget of around $1 million (approximately Rs 7.5 crore) from the Indian market alone.
Obsession India Box Office Collection
The film maintained a strong hold during its fourth weekend and collected Rs 5.50 crore.

Earlier, it earned Rs 22 crore in its third week after collecting Rs 31.25 crore in the second week. Interestingly, the movie showed impressive growth after its opening week, where it collected Rs 18.55 crore.
Positive audience reviews and strong word-of-mouth helped the horror thriller attract more viewers week after week. As a result, the film continued to perform well despite fresh competition at the box office.
Becomes Biggest Hollywood Hit of 2026 in India

With its latest collections, Obsession has overtaken Project Hail Mary to become the highest-grossing Hollywood film in India this year.
The Ryan Gosling-led sci-fi film had earned Rs 75.07 crore during its theatrical run in India. However, Obsession has now moved ahead despite lacking several advantages that most Hollywood blockbusters enjoy.
Unlike Project Hail Mary, the film was not released in IMAX format. It also does not feature globally established stars.
Instead, the movie is led by newcomers Inde Navarrette and Michael Johnston, making its box office success even more remarkable.
Low Budget, Massive Returns

One of the biggest talking points surrounding Obsession is its production budget.
The film was reportedly made for around $1 million, while Project Hail Mary carried a massive budget of nearly $248 million.
Even so, Obsession managed to outperform the much bigger production at the Indian box office.
Beats Michael, The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Other Hollywood Films
Obsession has also crossed the lifetime earnings of several major Hollywood releases in India.
These include:
- Michael – Rs 66.49 crore
- The Devil Wears Prada 2 – Rs 28.32 crore
- The Mummy – Rs 28.66 crore
- Backrooms – Rs 5.57 crore
- Mortal Kombat II – Rs 8.90 crore
- Toy Story 5 – Rs 3.39 crore
- Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu – Rs 4.68 crore
- The Super Mario Galaxy Movie – Rs 7.50 crore
- Scream 7 – Rs 1.55 crore
The film has also performed better than several other Hollywood titles, including Disclosure Day, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, The Sheep Detectives, Hoppers, Send Help, Marty Supreme, Wuthering Heights, and The Drama.
Climbs the All-Time Hollywood Box Office List in India
The latest collections have helped Obsession become the 28th highest-grossing Hollywood film ever released in India.
It has moved ahead of Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, which collected Rs 75.85 crore.
Furthermore, the movie is now only a few crores away from surpassing Avengers: Age of Ultron, which earned around Rs 80 crore during its run in India.
Obsession Also Beats Several Bollywood Films
The horror thriller has not only dominated Hollywood releases but has also outperformed several notable Bollywood films released in 2026.
Among the films it has surpassed are:
- Ikkis – Rs 28.38 crore
- O’ Romeo – Rs 59.90 crore
- Pati Patni Aur Woh Do – Rs 48.16 crore
- Chand Mera Dil – Rs 27.78 crore
- Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai – Rs 49.73 crore
- The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond – Rs 40.60 crore
- Mardaani 3 – Rs 53.06 crore
- Main Vaapas Aaunga – Rs 24.58 crore
- Cocktail 2 – Rs 48.02 crore
Its strong performance shows that audience response has remained consistent despite competition from several high-profile Indian releases.
Worldwide Performance
The film has also performed strongly in international markets.
According to the latest figures, Obsession has earned more than $333 million worldwide, making it one of the biggest surprise global successes of the year.
In India, the movie currently ranks as the fourth highest-grossing release of 2026, behind only:
- Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge – Rs 1,108.09 crore
- Border 3 – Rs 341.70 crore
- Bhooth Bangla – Rs 168.26 crore
With its exceptional box office run still continuing, Obsession is expected to climb even higher in both the Indian and worldwide box office charts.
