Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi’s brother, Vijendranath Tiwari, was allegedly assaulted in a violent attack linked to a land dispute in Bihar’s Gopalganj district on Sunday, police officials said.
The incident took place in Belsand village, the ancestral home of the National Award-winning actor, located in the Barauli area of Gopalganj district.
According to police, Vijendranath Tiwari was attacked with sticks and clubs during an altercation reportedly related to a property dispute. The assault left him seriously injured, prompting his family to rush him to the Gopalganj Model Hospital late on Sunday night.
Victim Referred To Patna For Advanced Treatment
After receiving initial medical attention at the local hospital, doctors referred Tiwari to a medical facility in Patna for specialised treatment due to the seriousness of his injuries.
While officials have not disclosed the full extent of his condition, sources indicated that the injuries were severe enough to require advanced care outside the district.
Police Arrest One Accused
Acting on information gathered after the incident, police moved quickly and arrested one suspect allegedly involved in the attack.
Gopalganj Superintendent of Police Vinay Tiwari confirmed the arrest and said the accused is being sent to judicial custody.
“The accused has been identified and arrested. He is being sent to judicial custody. Further action will be taken as per the investigation,” the police officer said.
Family Yet To File Formal Complaint
Police officials stated that despite the seriousness of the assault, the victim’s family has not yet submitted a formal written complaint.
According to the Superintendent of Police, legal proceedings will be expanded once a written complaint is received from the family.
The police have nevertheless initiated preliminary inquiries into the incident and are examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged land dispute.
Family Maintains Silence
So far, neither Pankaj Tripathi nor any member of his family has made a public statement regarding the attack.
Family members have reportedly declined to speak to the media while Vijendranath Tiwari undergoes treatment.
Investigation Underway
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the sequence of events leading up to the assault and whether additional individuals were involved.
Officials are also looking into the nature of the land dispute that allegedly triggered the violence.
Further details are expected to emerge once the victim’s family files a formal complaint and investigators complete their initial assessment of the case.
