In a meeting that has piqued the interest of both Bollywood fans and political pundits, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha hosted veteran actor Sanjay Dutt at his Delhi residence on Wednesday.
Chadha took to social media to share warm photos of their interaction, describing Dutt as “one of the warmest people” he knows and celebrating the actor’s latest cinematic triumph.
The meeting comes at a particularly sensitive time for Chadha, who was officially dropped as the AAP’s Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha on April 2, 2026. The party replaced him with Ashok Mittal, a move that has fueled intense speculation regarding a rift between Chadha and the AAP top brass, including party supremo Arvind Kejriwal. Chadha’s recent silence on key party developments and rumors of him potentially launching a new political outfit have made this high-profile social appearance a subject of significant political discussion.
Praise for “Dhurandhar 2” and “SP Chaudhary Aslam”
Despite the political noise, Chadha’s focus during the meet was on Dutt’s recent blockbuster success. Sanjay Dutt has been receiving widespread acclaim for his portrayal of SP Chaudhary Aslam in Aditya Dhar’s espionage thriller “Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge”, which hit theaters on March 19.
“So good to see all the love coming your way for ‘Dhurandhar’. The aura remains the same, and so does the admiration people have for you through every era. Couldn’t be more deserved. Always rooting for you,” Chadha wrote in his Instagram caption.
The sequel has shattered box office records, reportedly crossing the ₹1,600 crore mark worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of 2026 so far. The film, which stars Ranveer Singh as an undercover operative (Hamza), features Dutt in a pivotal role as a formidable police officer navigating geopolitical threats in Karachi.
Political Backdrop: Is a New Party on the Horizon?
Chadha’s removal from his leadership post in the Rajya Sabha marks a significant shift for the 37-year-old leader, once considered the “blue-eyed boy” of the AAP. While party officials have termed the change a “routine organizational decision,” reports suggest Chadha’s absence from recent party rallies and his cryptic social media posts indicate deeper friction.
Whether the meeting with Dutt is merely a friendly visit or a strategic step toward building a new public identity remains to be seen. For now, the “aura” of the politician and the actor seems to be commanding equal attention in the capital.
